Carmelized finishing on Fiberglass Cloth

After fiberglass cloth is woven there are lots of different end uses that require the cloth to be free of the PVA coating that was put on the yarn to make it slippery during the weaving process. There are a couple of different stages fiberglass cloth is left in during what is grouped together as "heat cleaned".
Sometimes the fabric is heated to 200 deg F or so just to carmelize the pva - just cooking off the volatiles and leaving the residue. This brown fabric, referred to as being carmelized, is now suitable for melamine laminates, some silicone, electrical applications
